This easy vegan peanut sauce is made in five minutes and stores great in the refrigerator. It’s little bit sweet, a little bit tangy, and can be amped up with some heat! It requires 7-8 ingredients and a bowl and whisk; that’s it!
Thai food is one of our favorite cuisines to eat. We have our favorite Thai restaurant down the road and we love to support local restaurants when we can. However, sometimes, you just want to whip it up quick at home!
7 Simple Ingredients
The ingredient list is short and clean with no unnecessary additions. If you want to add some heat and spice, add red pepper flakes to the mix! Otherwise, this simple list highlights the crowning jewel: the smooth peanut butter. My husband is a bit of a peanut butter snob and so it behooves me to tell you that our absolute favorite brand is the Santa Cruz Organic Peanut Butter.
Drizzle it over your noodle bowls, buddha bowls, homemade veggie sushi rolls, and more! This recipe makes about 1.5 cups of peanut sauce so you’ll definitely have extra and can use throughout your week. If you need an idea, check out my veggie and ramen noodle bowl here.
In the pictures in the blog post, we paired our peanut sauce with Mango Thai lettuce wraps.
First, we have our crispy green leaf lettuce as the vehicle. Then we added crunchy fresh veggies like carrots and cabbage. Then we paired them with buttery avocado, protein-packed edamame and sweet mango. Finally, we topped off our wraps with fresh cilantro and a generous heaping of this vegan peanut sauce.
Easy Vegan Peanut Sauce
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 7-10 tbsp plant milk coconut or full fat oat work best
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp red curry paste
- juice from half a lime
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- red pepper flakes optional for spicy
Instructions
- Add your peanut butter to a bowl. Microwave 10 -15 seconds to soften (longer if your peanut butter was stored in the refrigerator).
- Add the soy sauce, plant milk, lime juice, and maple syrup. When you add the milk, add one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency (some like their sauces thicker than others. For a more runny texture, add more milk. For a thicker sauce, add less milk).
- Add the ground ginger and curry paste. To make it spicy, add your red pepper flakes (or omit if you don't like it spicy). Mix well.
